数字の読み方

英語で数字を読むのが苦手なんです。

1980年 Nineteen eighty (19 と 80 にわけて読む)
2000年 two thousand
19と80に分ける訳は Nineteen HUNDRED and Eighty の省略形だから。
1900年 Nineteen hundred
747 Seven forty-seven (7 と 47 にわける)

１９００は＝Nineteen hundredというわけです。実は卒業証書なでに書かれている年号は、算用数字ではなくアルファベットで記述されていることが多いのですが、そこには
The year of one thousand nine hundred eighty.
と長々と書かれています。

100 hundred
1,000 thousand
1,000,000 million
100,000,000 billion

500,200,112,257 は
five hundred billion two hundred million one hundred twelve thousand two hundred forty-seven
これでいいのかっ！？

例えば、１，０００，０００，０００，０００は、１兆ですが、
この３桁ごとのカンマが、右から、Thousand（千）、Million（百万）、 Billion（十億）、 Trillion（兆）で、区切りごとの単位をあらわしています。この頭文字をとって「右からＴＭＢＴ（ティーエムビーティー）」と覚えておきましょう！さらに、この３桁間は、百（Hundred）単位になっていると理解すれば後は簡単です。
